Privacy Policy
Last updated 11 August 2026 · Applies to the Learniq — English Speaking iOS app.
The short version
- There is no account. You never give us an email or a password.
- Your learning data stays on your device — progress, streak, XP, saved
words, and the answers you gave during onboarding.
- We don't run analytics, ads or tracking, and we don't build a profile of
you or share data with data brokers.
- A few things necessarily leave your device to make features work — speech recognition,
purchases, and the media the App plays. They're each listed below.
- Delete the App and the data is gone.
This policy explains what Learniq (“we”, “us”) does with information when you use the App. It's
written to be read, not to be survived.
What stays on your device
Stored locally by the App, and never sent to us:
- Your first name, if you type one, and the onboarding answers (level, goal, focus area,
interests, daily-time target, chosen tutor).
- Learning progress: completed lessons, XP, streak, energy, review history, saved words,
finished stories and songs.
- App preferences and reminder time.
We have no servers holding your learning data and no way to look it up.
What leaves your device, and why
- Speech recognition (only while you're speaking in a practice session)
- Speaking practice uses Apple's Speech framework to turn your voice into text. Depending on
your device, language and settings, Apple may process that audio on-device or on Apple's servers;
that processing is governed by
Apple's Privacy Policy. Learniq does not record
your voice, does not save audio files, and does not send your audio anywhere else. The microphone
is only active while a speaking exercise or conversation is on screen.
- Subscriptions and purchases
- Purchases are made through Apple. We use RevenueCat
to check whether a subscription is active, which involves the App Store transaction/receipt data,
a device identifier and a randomly generated anonymous ID for your install. We never see your
payment-card details — Apple handles payment. This is what powers “Restore purchases”.
- Feature configuration
- On launch the App downloads a small configuration file so we can turn a feature off remotely
if it breaks. It's an ordinary HTTPS request that sends no personal data; the hosting provider
(Google Firebase) logs standard request information such as IP address for security and
reliability. See Firebase privacy.
- Music lessons (only if you open one)
- Songs play in an embedded YouTube player. Opening one loads content from YouTube/Google,
which may set cookies and receive your IP address and playback information under
Google's Privacy Policy. If you never open a
music lesson, nothing is requested from YouTube.
- AI conversation, when enabled
- Some versions of the App can hold an unscripted conversation with an AI tutor. When that
feature is available and you use it, the text of that conversation (and the transcript of what
you said, if you spoke it) is sent to an AI model provider — OpenAI, Anthropic or Google — purely
to generate the tutor's reply, and to a speech provider (ElevenLabs) to speak that reply aloud. We
do not attach your name or any identifier to those requests. If the feature is switched off, no
such requests are made.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Learniq schedules practice reminders locally on your device.
They are not sent from a server, and enabling them doesn't transmit anything to us. You can turn
them off any time in iOS Settings ▸ Learniq ▸ Notifications.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no ad identifiers (IDFA).
- No third-party analytics or attribution SDKs.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, in the App Tracking Transparency sense.
- No selling or sharing of personal information — including as those terms are defined by the
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
- No location collection, no contacts, no photo library access.
Children
Learniq is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not
knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal
information, write to us and we'll help.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process the limited data above on the basis of
contractual necessity (delivering the features you asked for, such as checking
your subscription) and our legitimate interests in keeping the App working and
secure. We don't rely on consent for advertising, because there is none.
Your rights
You have rights to access, correct, delete and port personal data, and to object to certain
processing. In practice: because your learning data lives only on your device,
deleting the App deletes it. For purchase records, contact us and we'll pass the
request to our subscription provider, or you can ask Apple directly. Write to
kaan@maks-global.com and we'll
answer within 30 days. If you're in the EEA/UK you may also complain to your local data-protection
authority.
Data retention and security
We hold no learning data to retain. Subscription records are kept by Apple and our subscription
provider for as long as needed to run the subscription and meet accounting obligations. All network
requests the App makes use HTTPS.
International transfers
The providers named above may process data in countries other than yours, including the United
States, under their own safeguards and standard contractual clauses where required.
Changes
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date changes with it, and a material change will be
flagged in the App.
